C. Joyce Lusk, 92, of Genoa, Ohio died Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa. Joyce was a lifelong resident being born here on January 31, 1924 to Clinton and Esther (Surbier) Swartzlander. She married Donald W. Lusk, in Genoa, on November 10, 1945 and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2006. Joyce had worked as a cook in the cafeterias of the former high school and the Brunner building, for the Genoa Area Local Schools, both in Genoa, for many years. She was a dedicated member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa, serving with the Ruthenians and on other committees throughout the years. She was a member of the Genoa American Legion Auxiliary and in her spare time enjoyed collecting dolls. Here most cherished moments were those spent with her family. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Tom) Boehler, Marlaine (David) Schmidlin and Connie Spitler, 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, sister, Mary Ann Wilkins and her loving companion, Donald Reeder. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Elaine Rust-Kline and Linda Lobdell. A memorial service for Joyce will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St. Genoa, Ohio 43430. Immediately following the service the family will be gathering for a luncheon in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery at a later date.
