Joyce M. Farkas, 82, of Genoa, passed away late Tuesday evening, December 1, 2015, at her residence. Joyce was born December 8, 1932, in Erie, Michigan, to Jasper and Grace (Mominee) Burgard. She worked as a waitress at Howard Johnsons in Toledo and Annas Family Restaurant in Northwood retiring in 1993. Joyce was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa. She very much enjoyed dancing, music and her family. Joyce is survived by her family: daughter, Joni (Doug) Njaim, of Northwood, Ohio, son, Joe Spirko, Sarasota, Florida, son, John Spirko, Biloxi Mississippi, son, Andy Farkas of Genoa; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; brother, Ronald (June) Burgard of Temperance, Michigan; and special companion, Donald Davis of Genoa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Andrew Farkas in 1991, son, Jim Spirko, sister, Patricia Hames and grandson, Dennis Njaim. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2015, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Friday, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 Main St., Genoa, with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials for Joyce to go to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551; or the Allen Clay Joint Fire District, Station #3, 101 E. Sixth St. Genoa, Ohio 43430.
