Joyce Marie Buchwalter

Joyce Marie Buchwalter, 76, of Curtice, OH passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon, OH. She was born on April 3, 1946 in Port Clinton, OH to Ivan and Gladys “Dee” (Rider) Wadsworth. On May 28, 1964 in Port Clinton, OH she married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Day Buchwalter, and he survives.

Joyce graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1964 just after they were married. She worked for the Ohio State Parks System. Joyce enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, and boating. She and a fellow neighbor lady went out on Lake Erie in a 14 foot Jon boat regularly, but she didn’t trust her son’s boat that she nicknamed “The Titanic”, because she said, “It had more holes in it than the actual Titanic.” Joyce was also known to be a good cook, she liked to can, and she made soups and froze them by the container full. Everyone is going to miss her vegetable soup. She had a generous, giving soul, and she usually ended up giving more food away than she ate. Joyce was also known to buy things on sale because someone in the family might need it. She was always thinking of her family and loved them dearly. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her loving husband of over 58 years, Dennis Day Buchwalter, she is survived by her son, Curtiss Ray (Linda) Buchwalter, 2 grandkids, Dennis Michael Buchwalter and Jaclyn Marie (Vince) Semler, 1 great grandson, Wyatt Knoxx, siblings, Sandy Finken and Linda (Lester) Mackey, and her father-in-law, Curtiss Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Lewis John Buchwalter, and siblings, Alma Luebcke and Lewis “Buzz” Wadsworth.

Funeral services for Joyce will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, OH with visitation two hours prior from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, OH.
