Joyce L. Balduff

Joyce Lorene Poole Balduff, age 89, lost her hard-fought battle with illness on January 4, 2019. She passed away comfortably in the family home in Sylvania Township, Ohio in the company of her husband of 67 wonderful years and her family. She is to be celebrated with visitation on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park following the service. Joyce was born in Toledo, Ohio to Hobart and Catherine Poole on December 14, 1929. After graduating from Woodward High School in 1947, she worked at a dress shop and Columbia Gas until she married Kenneth Balduff on December 29, 1951. After her marriage, Joyce was a devoted wife and stay at home mother, taking care of her 6 children. Joyce had many passions that she filled her life with. She was an avid reader and used her love for words as a cross puzzler. She loved to crochet and completed many projects that can be found in the homes of her children and grandchildren. She was active within her spiritual home, Wesley United Methodist Church. She participated in numerous church programs, especially Feed Your Neighbor. She loved to sing and participated in the church choir. As much joy as she found in all of these activities, none of these passions could come close to what she loved the most – more than anything, Joyce loved spending time with, loving, and supporting her family. Left to love and remember Joyce are her husband Kenneth Balduff, sister Darlene and husband Jerry Harrison, daughter Sheila and husband Joseph Lisk, daughter Sharon Woodward, son Michael and wife Bonnie Jean Balduff, daughter Elaine and husband Clinton Gohl, son Wayne and wife Carolyn Balduff, and son Paul and wife Laurie Balduff. In addition, there are 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews too numerous to count. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Hobart Poole, sister Doris Tracey and husband Dennis, brother Hobart Poole Jr and wife Sherry, granddaughters, Janett Lisk & Sarah Balduff, grandsons Kevin Woodward, Michael Balduff Jr, Brian Balduff & Jay Antles, and son-in-law John Woodward. Joyce has asked that a celebration of her life be held after the funeral. Her intention and last wish was that her family and friends remember her with a joyful party. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joyce’s memory can be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
