Joy Ann Race

Joy Ann Race, 88, of Genoa, died early in the morning of Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Genoa Retirement Village in Genoa, Ohio. Joy was born April 3, 1928, in Genoa to Otto Archie and Cymbeline (Apel) Arndt. On October 2, 1948, in Genoa she married Robert Buck W. Race and he preceded her in death October 20, 1996. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa. For over 50 years Joy was a member of the Tresette Club, which met once a month. She also belonged to the Toledo Area Humane Society. Her children survive her: Tomi Ann Harvey, Cym C. (Dick) Sondergeld and David R. Race, all of Genoa; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Richard and Archie Arndt, and great granddaughters, Kendall and Taylor Balduf. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 20, 2017, in the chapel of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Genoa, with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery.
