Joy R (Benroth) Gaertner (80) of Oak Harbor, peaceful passed on November 22nd, 2022 with her family by her side. Joy was born to Zenus and Ruth (Hamilton) Benroth on February 11th, 1942 in Columbus Grove.
Joy graduated from Liberty Benton High School in 1962. She worked in several factories during her career but spent 20 years at Fremont Plastic Products. She was an avid Winnie the Pooh collector, crocheter, and crafter. After retirement Joy spent her time volunteering at St. Paul’s BCS Food Pantry and was inducted into the Ottawa County Senior Hall of Fame in 2016. Joy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Joy is survived by her son Dave (Kelly) Gaertner and daughter Ruthann (Jerry) Buhrow, Grandchildren Kyle Gaertner, Ashley (Mike) Walterbusch, Austin (Olivia Rahm) Buhrow, and Warren Gaertner. Great Grandchildren Davyn and Evan Gaertner, and Aubree and Lane Walterbusch. Siblings Shirley Tuttle, Charles (Rose) Benroth, and twin Joyce Kagy. Joy is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Patricia (Samuel) Aurand, and John (Carol) Benroth. Brother In Laws Doyle Tuttle and Ron Kagy.
At Joy’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
The family would like to thank Mid County EMS, Oak Harbor Police Department, and Promedica Hospice for all of their assistance.
Joy will be cremated under the direct care of the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor and there will be no services. Donations to help the family with funeral expenses may be given through the funeral home’s website on Joy’s Tribute page at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
