Josephine M. Swiatecki

Josephine “Jo” M. Swiatecki, 91, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024. She was born in Toledo to Floyd and Mildred (Giles) Plumb on October 17, 1933. Jo worked for Kizer Insurance in Toledo through the 50’s and 60’s before marrying the love of her life, Sylvester “Gene” Swiatecki. After they wed, Jo became the perfect embodiment of a stay-at-home mother, raising their two children. She later returned to the work force by becoming the lead teller at Home Federal Bank, which she eventually retired from. Jo had incredible faith and regularly attended and volunteered at Westgate Chapel, where she also was Deaconess and part of the choir. She was a true lady, always exercising grace and etiquette wherever she went, even requesting her make up and hair be done before being released from the hospital recently!

Jo is survived by her beloved daughter, Karen Seckinger; grandchildren, Justin Thomas “JT” Seckinger, Ethan Seckinger; three younger siblings; many nieces and nephews; and countless church friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sylvester “Gene” Swiatecki; son, Jeffrey Swiatecki; brothers, Thomas Plumb, Forrest (Darlene) Plumb; and parents.

Friends will be received on Saturday, December 28, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623, where the Funeral Service will begin at 12 p.m. Jo will be laid to rest privately at Toledo Memorial Park between her beloved Gene and Jeffrey.
