JOSEPHINE WELTY BRADEN MEYER Josephine L. Meyer, 91, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Waterford at Levis Commons, surrounded by her loving family. Josephine was born April 13, 1921 In Bluffton, Ohio to Theophilus and Mary (Bair) Welty, whose family emigrated from Bern, Switzerland. Jo attended Libbey High School and married John A. Braden on May 27, 1938 and he preceded her in death in August of 1965. She married Clarence A. Meyer in April, 1968 and he preceded her in death in 2006. Jo was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church and the Toledo United Swiss Historical Society at Oakshade Grove and she was active in the German American Festival. She was a snowbird and enjoyed escaping to Frostproof, Florida. Jo loved camping, boating and playing cards, especially euchre and poker. She will be remembered for her love for her children and grandchildren and enjoying a wide circle of friends. Everyone who has known Jo is left with a sense of pride for all of the Living she’s done in her time here, and is grateful for the amazing mark she’s left on our hearts a beautiful, resilient and spirited woman. Jo is survived by her children Jacqueline L. Reno, Joseph T. (Annette) Braden, Patricia J. (Robert) Alexander and Melinda S. Braden (special friend, Rob Busch); twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Braden. Along with her husbands, John Braden and Clarence Meyer, Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Douglas P. Braden and Jeffery A. Braden and siblings, Robert and Ralph Welty and Mae Diefenbach. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 3 P.M. at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E. Indiana Ave, Perrysburg, with Pastor Ann Marshall officiating. Burial will be private. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Josephine’s name to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box, 140512, Toledo, Ohio, 43614. The family would especially like to thank Christian Homecare, Odyssey Hospice and Waterford at Levis Commons for their love and support.
