Joseph A. Young, Jr. , 52, of Oak Harbor, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, April 5, 2016, at H.B. Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. Joe was born February 3, 1964, in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph A., Sr. and Bonnie J. (DuBois) Young. On February 14, 1986, in Bettsville, Ohio, he married Nancy Base, who survives him. Joe worked as a security officer for G4S at Owens Corning. He was a member of Victory Church in Fremont, and his Christian walk with the Lord was vitally important to him. He always took time to listen to people and get to know them. Joe was most noted for his love of music and singing, and with his wife, Nancy, was part of the Young Love Ministries. He enjoyed writing poetry about his faith and family. Being a selfless person, Joe was a generous tissue donor. In addition to his loving wife of 30 years, Joe is survived by his family: step children, John (Rose) Avers, Susan (Dan) Newsom and David (Angela) Avers; 14 step grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren; siblings, James Young, Dianne (Kenneth) Durnwald, Patrick Young, David (Maryann) Young, John (Sandy) Young, Joanna (Mario) Costantini and Jeffrey (Wendy) Young. Joe is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2016, at Victory Church, Fremont, with visitation one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the church for a luncheon. The family has suggested memorials for Joe to go to Victory Church, 2051 Oak Harbor Rd., Fremont, OH 43420; or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, in honor of his nephew, Jeremy Young. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
