Joseph A. Young, Sr., 80, of Oak Harbor, died Friday, September 12, 2008, at his home. Joe was born October 11, 1927, in Toledo, Ohio, to Francis A. and Marie E. Gauffroy Young. On April 15, 1950, at Immaculate Conception in Toledo he married Bonnie J. DuBois, who survives him. He retired in 1990 after 35 years from Libbey Owens Ford, Rossford. Having served in the U.S. Marines from 1951-53, Joe was a member of the John A. Fader American Legion Post #114 and V.F.W Post #8732 in Oak Harbor. He was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Oak Harbor. Joe enjoyed working crossword puzzles and in his earlier years, enjoyed golfing. In addition to his loving wife of 58 years, Bonnie, Joe is survived by his children, James Phyllis Young of Missouri, Dianne Kenneth Durnwald of Fremont, Patrick Sherry Young of North Carolina, David Maryann Young and John Sandy Young both of Oak Harbor, Joanna Mario Costantini of Elmore, Joe Nancy Young and JeffreyWendy Young, both of Oak Harbor. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Rita Ball, Matilda Krabach, Veronica Krumeich, Marion Beyer, and Gretchen Wortketter, and brothers, Bernard and Edwin Young. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September, 16, 2008, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, with interment to follow in Union Cemetery, where the John A Fader American Legion Post #114 and the V.F.W. Post #8732, both of Oak Harbor, will perform military graveside honors. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2008 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Oak Harbor.
