Joseph Wilcik, 95, of Genoa, formerly of Toledo, died early Thursday morning, February 21, 2008, in the Genoa Retirement Village. Joseph was born January 31, 1913, in Prague, Czechoslovakia, to John and Josephine Wilcik. On September 28, 1940, in Amsterdam, Ohio, Joseph married Leona M. Bendle, who preceded him in death September 11, 1981. Joseph worked for Maumee Chemical for over 30 years retiring in 1979. He was a member of the National Slovak Society and a member of the former St. Cyril Methodius Church, now All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford. Survivors include his daughter, Evelyn Thomas of Millbury, son, John Emily Wilcik of Perrysburg, grandchildren, Christine, Corey, Michael, Nancy and Amy, and great grandchildren, Samantha, Andrea and Brooke. His parents, wife, Leona, brother, Martin Wilcik, and son-in-law, Lou Thomas, preceded him in death. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2008, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2008, with a time of fellowship and luncheon to follow at the Genoa fire hall. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials for Joseph to the Genoa Retirement Village, 300 Cherry St., Genoa, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.
