Joseph J. Vasko, 94, of Genoa died Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born on May 3, 1921 in Toledo to Peter and Verna (Pojanski) Vasko. On May 2, 1942 in Toledo he married Pearl Annabell Vitosky, who preceded him in death on July 14, 2015. Joseph served in the U.S. Army as Sergeant in the Quartermaster Corps from 1942-1945. He worked as an electrician and owned his own business, retiring in 1978. After retirement, he moved to Sanibel Island, FL for 22 years, before returning to the area. Joseph was a member of St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church, Oregon. He enjoyed golfing, boating, and being with his grandchildren. Joseph is survived by his son, David (Gail) Vasko, daughter-in-law, Karen Vasko, 5 grandchildren, Dane Vasko, Derek (Jenny) Vasko, DDS, Matt (Catherine) Vasko, MD, Joel (Katie) Vasko, and Abigail (Rob) Williams, and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Allan Vasko, DDS, brothers, Peter, John, George, and Andrew Vasko, and sisters, Verna Danko, Anna Sofalvi, and Mary Vasko. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The family will receive friends and relatives two hours prior to the service from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials for Joseph to go to Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio or Hospice of NW Ohio, Perrysburg.
