Joseph George Vargo, 79, of Curtice, Ohio, went to heaven on the evening of Monday, November 6, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born August 31, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph and Helen (Takach) Vargo. Joe graduated from Genoa High School in 1955 and attended the University of Toledo. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Williston and served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963 during the Vietnam Era. Joe worked at SSOE in Toledo for 18 years and then for General Motors Delphi in Sandusky for 25 years. Joes joys were cutting grass and cooking. He loved his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He had a special bond with his brother, Bud, and loved spending time with his son, Joe. Joe will be greatly missed. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol, whom he married October 7, 1961, in Williston, Ohio. He is also survived by his daughter, Michelle (Rocky) Maix, son, Joseph (Denese) Vargo, and daughter, Tracy (Mike) Donnelly; grandchildren, Kayla (Charlie), Kelsey, Payton, Kennedy, Ashley (Luis), Lindsey (Tommy), Harleigh, Gabriel and Zachary; great grandchildren, Genty, Reid, Jericho, Sebastian, Easton, Landon and Doris; brothers, Albert (Rita) Vargo, John (Kay) Vargo, and Gary Vargo; and many beloved nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church, 21140 W. Toledo St., Williston, with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Curtice. The family has suggested that memorials for Joe be given to St. John Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 235, Williston, OH 43468; or Jerusalem Twp. Fire Dept., 9501 Jerusalem Rd., Curtice, OH 43412.
