Joseph Richard

Joseph Donald Henri Richard, age 64, died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at his home in Sylvania. Joe was born July 12, 1947 in Acushnet, MA as one of ten children born to Armand, Sr. and Lillian Richard. He was a 1967 graduate of New Bedford Vocation High School where he played football and was a member of the honor society. He worked with his father running a milk route throughout his high school years. Joe joined the Air Force after graduating from high school and was a welder and tech writer until 1976 when he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. The following year he married the love of his life, Jackie, and they combined their families to raise five children together. Joe worked in the pizza industry for 25 years. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 553 where he was Assistant Historian for the State of Ohio. He enjoyed golfing, playing a good game of cards, traveling to Jamaica, and especially horse playing and snuggling with his 12 grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Armond, Sr; sister, Lillian and granddaughter, Addrianna. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; children, Robert Cindy Krumm, Dawnmarie Todd Smitley, Desiree Loren, Jr. Nieman, Kristie Ty Walker, and Dominique Lori Richard; 12 grandchildren; 5 brothers; and a sister. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be on Friday at 11:00am.
