Joseph W. Poddany, age 95, of Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Joseph was born on March 22, 1922 to Michael and Kathryn Poddany in Toledo, Ohio. He married Lydia A. Slovak on October 6, 1951 and she survives. Joseph was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. He worked as a General Service Administrator for the Rossford Ordinance and the New Federal Building in Downtown Toledo. He was a member of Epiphany of the Lord Parish at St. Thomas Aquinas and a member of the Christ Dunberger Post American Legion #537 in Oregon. He was active in Knights of Columbus at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Walbridge and the VFW Post #4906 on Consaul St. in East Toledo. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Lydia, his children, Joseph (Susan) Poddany, Richard (the late Deborah) Poddany, and James Poddany; grandchildren, Heather Poddany, Brandon (Annie) Poddany, John (Jayme) Poddany and Kelsey (Adam) Hammitt; and great-grandchildren, Kinsley, A.J., Isabella, Ramsey, Harper and Lydia. Friends will be received at the Hoeflinger-Bolander Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave. Oregon, Ohio 43616 on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 PM. with a Rosary Service at 4:00 PM. and Military Honors beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Epiphany of the Lord, St. Thomas Aquinas 729 White St. Toledo, Ohio 43605 from 9:00 AM. until the time of Services at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at North Oregon Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Joseph may be directed to St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Christ Dunberger American Legion or the St. Louis Food Bank.
