Joseph Charles Pauken, age 86, of Maumee, Ohio and formerly Palm Bay, Florida, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio with his family at his side. He was born on December 15, 1928 to Leo J. and Hazel M. (Schwab) Pauken in Maumee, Ohio and graduated from the Ohio Northern University with a degree in Pharmacology. He served in the United States Army. He married Margaret Ann Harrigan on September 26, 1953 and they had eight children. Joe proudly served the community of Maumee as a city councilman from 1971 to 1981. He was a life member of the Maumee Elks, a fourth degree Knights of Columbus member and was inducted into the Maumee High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997. Joe enjoyed painting and photography. His paintings paid for his college education and he had two published books of cartoons relating to his career. Joe is survived by his sons, Michael (Vickie nee Maddox); Stephen (Margaret nee Feck); David (Christine nee Fall); Jeff (Linda nee Street); Dennis (Elaine nee Wuebben); Timothy (Karen nee Pomeroy); Mark (Amy nee Estes); daughter, Judith (Steve Holmes) Tuttle; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren with two more on the way. Also surviving are sisters, Joanne Hogan and Leona Haas; brothers, Donald and Charles Teed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Maggie and brother, Norman. He will be missed by all that knew him. Friends and family will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM. Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 21, 2015 and process to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 104 Broadway Street, Maumee, Ohio for the Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 AM.
