Joseph F. O'Leary

Joseph (Joe) F. OLeary, 94 a Sunset Community resident in Toledo OH, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. Joe was fortunate to find love twice in his life and have 2 loving families.  He moved to Ohio in 2006 to marry Ellis Olzack.  Together they enjoyed 10 wonderful years of second marriages prior to Elli’s death in 2016.  Joe was born on December 25, 1924 in Springfield, MA, son of the late Timothy J. OLeary, and the late Margaret A. (Williams) OLeary. Prior to his retirement in 1986, Joe was employed by the General Electric company in finance and assisting manufacturing and engineering groups in the contractor market for 38 years.  He was devoted husband and father, an enthusiastic traveler, and an avid reader. Joe was well known for his quick wit, and ready smile.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by Ellis’s children Janet Lanterman (Kirk) of Seattle, WA, Ray Olczak (Linda) of Toledo, OH, and Bonnie Ash (Bill) of Perrysburg, OH and his children Martha J. OLeary of Avon; Stephen F. OLeary (Amy) of Venice, FL; Peter J. OLeary (Hilary) of Marietta, GA; David W. OLeary (Lin) of Kiawah Island, S.C.; John M. OLeary (Nancy) of West Hartford; his grandchildren Ashley, Stephen Jr., Jennifer, Michael, Matthew, Tim, K.J., Katie, and Sarah; 6 great grandchildren; his sisters Marie Cleary of Reading, MA, Margaret McCarthy of Burlington, MA; several nieces and nephews.   Joe was predeceased by his beloved first wife of 51 years Nancy M. (Moloney) O’Leary, his infant daughter Susan, and his brothers Timothy, George, and William OLeary. A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:15 am on Monday, July 8th in the Ursuline Convent chapel at 4045 Indian Road, Toledo OH In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: www.foldsofhonor.org
