Joseph P. Lukac, 78, of Port Clinton passed away, Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Providence Care Center in Sandusky. He was born on November 22, 1929 to Joseph and Emma Mizla Lukac. He grew up in Gypsum, OH and started to work at the United States Gypsum Company as a young man, and retired after 48 years of faithful service. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War as a stenographer. He completed highly sensitive missions while based in Munsan-Ni, Korea. Joe was a graduate of Port Clinton High School class of 1947. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church his entire life. He was a member of the Port Clinton American Legion Post 113, and a life member of the Marblehead V.F.W. Post7572. Joe was also an avid golfer. On August 25, 1956 he married Joan Mae Lundgard who survives. Joe and Joan recently celebrated 52 years of marriage with the help of the caring staff at The Commons of Providence. Joe had a great deal of pride in his family which includes his son James Jackie Hall Lukac of Danbury Twp., daughter Jan John Jr. Gluth of Port Clinton; six grandchildren Stephen Abby Lukac, Emily Justin Blackburn, Amy Lukac, Melissa Lukac, Trey Gluth, and Marie Gluth; great-grandchildren Nathen, Dylan, and Keegan Lukac, and Raegan Blackburn. His brother Paul Joan Lukac, sister Juliann Ralph Branum also survive in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Gerner-Wolf Walker Funeral Home & Crematory 216 Washington St, Port Clinton. A funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton where additional visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. Father John Missler will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial donations may be made to Stein Hospice or to a charity of the donors choice.
