Joseph A. C. Lemay

Joseph A.C. LeMay, 88, of Curtice, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021, in Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio, after a sudden illness. He was born in Lincoln Park, Michigan on October 27, 1933, the son of James and Marie D. (Villmeure) LeMay. Joseph met Donna L. (Waldo) and they were married in Curtice on October 27, 1990. Joseph was a career truck driver for several area trucking companies, hauling steel and auto parts into many assembly plants in Michigan and Ohio. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Local #20 for many years. Joseph was an avid runner who trained and ran in a number of races, including the Boston, Detroit and Cleveland Marathons. He spent a lot of time training and often was seen running while his truck was being loaded for his next trip! Joseph was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the American Legion and VFW. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and boating. He was also an enthusiastic sports fan and dearly loved his Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. Many of Joseph’s friends and family will remember him for his sense of humor and his willingness to laugh and have fun. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Donna, children, Michael LeMay (Peggy), Kathleen (Kenneth) Horka, Judith (Christopher) Emery, Mary Jo (Robert) Tafelsky, and Linda (Thomas) Kelly, grandchildren, Zachary, Ryan, Matthew, Jillian, Samantha (Dan), Jacqueline, Madeline, Henry, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Rachel. Also surviving are his brothers, Norman LeMay, Marcel (Virginia) LeMay, Paul (Gerrie) LeMay and sister Pauline Toltesi, niece, Rhonda Kimble and great nieces, Courtney Richards and Lauren Crawford. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Claire Liphardt, grandson, Nathan Tafelsky, and stepchildren, Kurt and Denise Doughman. Visitation for Joseph will be held in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio, from 12:00-2:00 PM on Friday, November 19, 2021, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
