Joseph Lee Kisandi, age 82, of Maumee, OH passed away peacefully at his home and went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, after a brief but strong battle with cancer. He was born, August 14th, 1935 in Croswell, MI to Joseph and Margaret (Kandler) Kisandi. Joe was a graduate of Eastern High School. A veteran of the US Army where he served during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Melissa Gail Kettler on August 22nd, 1959. Joe worked for Chrysler Corporation in Perrysburg, OH, and in 1986 moved to Carlock, IL to form a new company, Diamond Star Motors, a joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. He retired in 1996 moving back home to Maumee. He and Melissa were members of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 40 years. Joe enjoyed serving at the Cherry Street Mission with his wife and constantly doing yard work. He was also and accomplished painter. He was a meticulous trim carpenter and through the years enjoyed working and updating his homes. He loved dancing, reading, his pets and most of all time spent with his children and grandchildren. Him and Melissa were inseparable. He was a loving husband and family man, who will be dearly missed. Joe is survived by his devoted wife Melissa; brother Chuck Kisandi, MI.; sisters, Carol (Jerry) Lipinski and Betty Levi, MI.; children Elise (David) Metzger, OH, Kurt (Michelle) Kisandi; grandchildren Dakota, Hunter and Lexi Kisandi, IL, Luke Metzger, OH and great grandson Mason, IL. Visitation will be Sunday February 25th, from 3-8 at Maison-Dardenne Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH 43537. The funeral service will be 11:00am, February 26th, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Ave, 43614 Toledo, OH, where the family will receive friends at 10:00am one hour prior to the service. Those wishing to make Donations may be made to Cherry Street Mission, Toledo Oh, or Trinity Lutheran, Comfort Dog Ministry. The family would like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the loving care they provided over the past several months. They were truly a blessing to all. There will be a memorial luncheon following the service at Trinity Lutheran Church.
