Joseph Thomas Jessen, age 50, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Catawba Island on April 27th. Joe was a graduate of St. Edward Academy in Lakewood and Bowling Green State University. Although currently employed by The Chef’s Garden in Huron, Joe was the owner and innkeeper at McKenna’s Inn Bed and Breakfast for twenty years. Joe was an Eagle Scout, a founding member of the Port Clinton Area Bed and Breakfast Association, an avid gardener, reader, music aficionado, and a professional conversationalist. Joe made an impact on everyone he met. He was a kind, compassionate man who was passionate about his beliefs. Joe is survived by his daughter, James H. Jessen; his mother, Gerry Jessen Reiff; his siblings, Anna Jessen, Steven Jessen (Shannon), and Elizabeth Jessen Babb (Andrew); cousin David Sharkey (Gretchen); and former wife, Rebecca Jessen. He is preceded in death by his father, James C. Jessen. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Greater Port Clinton Area Art Council. An injury to one is the concern of all.
