Joseph A. Donovan

Joseph A. Donovan, Sr., 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 with his loving wife at his side. Joe was born and raised in New York City where he graduated from Fordham University and New Yorks Stern School of Business. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Joe had a long and distinguished 30 year career with General Mills where he began as a sales rep and moved onto several management positions. General Mills brought Joe to Toledo in 1969 and he settled his family in Sylvania where he was an active member of St. Josephs Parish. Joe had a magnetic personality and was very intelligent. His fun loving nature and dry sense of humor made him easy to be around. Joes proudest accomplishments came as a husband and father. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 48 years, Maureen. He was also a loving father to his two children and six grandchildren. Joe leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Nancy Donovan Lanier, her husband, Tim Lanier of Holland, Ohio, and their children, Max, Charles, and Will; son Joseph Donovan, Jr. of Scituate, Mass., his wife Kristi, and their children, Daisy, Joseph III Joey, and Jonathan. Joe loved nothing more than a day with his family. He was an amazing man who will be missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 5-8:00pm with a Scripture Service at 7:30pm. A funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St. Sylvania, OH. Joe will be laid to rest with 4 generations of his family at St. Marys Cemetery in Milford, Mass.
