Joseph T. Dechristopher

Joseph T. DeChristopher, 86, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born on August 18, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio to Richard and Dorothy (McCarthy) DeChristopher. Joseph married Joann M. Ault on April 24, 1954 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg where they remained members. Throughout his life, Joseph was an avid sports fan, but his true passion was his family. He enjoyed being involved with his family and was very supportive of their goals. Joseph was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He attended Central Catholic High School and worked for many years at Buckeye Cartage and Buckeye Furniture. Joseph is survived by his loving children, Loraine A. (Mark) Herwat of Perrysburg, OH, Gregory E. (Wanda) DeChristopher of Hickory, NC, Jeffrey J. (Christine) DeChristopher of Buena Vista, CO; grandchildren, Matthew Herwat, Erin DeChristopher, Patricia DeChristopher, Timothy DeChristopher; two great grandchildren; siblings, Kathie (Cecil Goss) Gunner, Ted (Cathy) DeChristopher, Ray (Judy) DeChristopher, John (Pat) DeChristopher; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by, parents; wife; brother, Richard DeChristopher, and sister, Marianne Jones. Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:30 P.M. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419-874-3133) where Rosary Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Prayers will be recited on April 22, 2015 at the funeral home at 9:45 A.M. followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 A.M at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 East Front St., Perrysburg. Burial will follow at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider The American Lung Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
