Joseph A. Chmielewski, 67, of Catawba Island and Viera, FL, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, December 03, 2010 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH. He was born on September 15, 1943 in Parma, OH, the son of Norman and Ida R. Maslowski Chmielewski. Joe was a graduate of Parma High School. He graduated from Cleveland State University and the University of Cincinnati. Joe was the C.E.O. and former owner of FAB Form Manufacturing Co. in Mentor, OH, until his retirement in 2005. Joe previously worked at Ford Motor Co., Davis Besse Nuclear Power Plant and Perry Nuclear Power Plant. After his retirement from FAB Form, he spent half of his time living on Catawba Island and the other half in Viera, FL. He is survived by his wife, Supatra, who he married on May 19, 2010 in Vermont. He was a very devoted, active and charitable member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a member of the Catawba Island Club. Joe loved traveling, golfing, flying, collecting antique cars, boating and visiting the Islands, especially for the lobster bisque from Put-In-Bay and the Brandy Alexanders from Kellys Island. Survivors include: Wife: Supatra Chmielewski; Step-Sons: Edward Olsen family and Albert Olsen family; Mother: Ida Chmielewski of Clearwater, FL; 2 Sisters families of Florida; 1 Brother family of Nevada; Longtime friends: Mike Jody Smith. Joe was preceded in death by his father and one sister. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00PM, Tuesday, December 07, 2010 at Catawba Island Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Joe may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Immaculate Conception Catholic School. Arrangements were handled by the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH.
