Joseph Brey

Joseph Brey, 82, of Port Clinton, OH passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH.  He was born on January 19, 1940 in Cleveland, OH to Theodore Brey and Mary Brey-Simmerly.  Joe worked as a tool maker and layout inspector for 45 years.  He served 8 years in the U.S. Army National Guard and 6 years in the Ohio Navy Militia.  Joe loved fishing in Lake Erie.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #83 and served 6 years on the Honor Guard.  He was also a life member of the Amvets Post #17 in Sandusky, OH.  Joe loved and will miss his buddy, Sammy.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sylvia “Sally” Brey, daughters, Barbara (Keith) Friedl-Bush and Sandra (Matt) Findura, and son, Joe T. Brey.  He was also grandfather to Brittany & Tyler Oehlstrom and Justin Friedl.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life for Joe will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Amvets Post #17, 307 Putman, Sandusky, OH.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Joe may be given to Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH.  Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com .
