Joseph Daniel Andryc

April 2, 1931 — May 12, 2021

Joseph “Joe” Andryc, 90, of Rossford, Ohio, passed away after a brief illness on May 12, 2021 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. Joe was born in Rossford on April 2, 1931 to the late John and Emelia (Tomaszewski) Andryc and was a lifelong resident there. He was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church, and was a former member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Church and a former Knight of Columbus. Joe graduated from Rossford High School in 1949 and began employment at the former Libbey Owens Ford factory shortly thereafter. He remained with LOF for 42 years, retiring as a general foreman in 1991. He also served in the United States Coast Guard aboard the USCGC Tupelo. Joe was devoted to his wife of 66 years, Mary Ann, who pre-deceased him. Their marriage was a true partnership and grounded in faith. Through many years together, their commitment to family was unwavering. They raised three children, cared for their own parents in their final years, and celebrated the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During retirement, Joe attended daily Mass at All Saints, took daily walks in Rossford, was active at the Senior Center, and had a gentle smile and friendly greeting for everyone. He and Mary Ann visited their children’s families regularly in the New York City area and Los Angeles, and welcomed them back to Rossford frequently. They also traveled frequently, including a 1998 trip to Besko, Poland, where Joe met his first cousins and visited his grandparents’ gravesites. After his wife’s passing in 2019, Joe continued to live independently at home. He faithfully visited Mary Ann’s gravesite at Fort Meigs Cemetery, becoming friends with the office staff there. His last trip was in April 2021, when he traveled to celebrate Easter and his 90th birthday with his family. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Martis), his parents and his brother, John (Nancy). He is survived by sons Philip (Linda), Joel (Nancy) and David (Mary); sister, Jennie Gargotto; brother-in-law James (Gerri) Martis; grandchildren Nicholas (Lucy), Samantha, Matthew (Katie), Katie, Caroline, Stephen and Peter; great-grandchildren Leo and Maia, and a new great-grandchild expected in June. Friends may visit at the Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home of Rossford on Monday, May 17, from 4pm-8pm. The family will also receive visitors at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford at 9am on Tuesday, May 18, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Internment will follow immediately thereafter at Fort Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to All Saints Church or to St. Francis de Sales High School (Andryc Family Scholarship Fund).
