Josefina Campos, age 94, of Toledo, died April 10, 2023, at Franciscan Care Center, Toledo. She was born March 9, 1929, in El Paso, Texas to the late Pedro and Anna (Alvarado) Gomez. On June 3, 1946, Josefina married Frank Campos and they shared nearly 51 years of marriage. She was a longtime member of the former Saint Mary Catholic Church, Toledo, where she served as an usher, lector, and was volunteer of the year in 2002. She more recently had attended St. Pius Catholic Church before entering the care center.
Josefina was a longtime employee with W.T. Grant as the floor manager in sales. She also spent many years cleaning the union hall for Iron Worker’s Local 55 in Toledo. In her free time, she loved to go dancing with her husband. They were members of the Oasis Club of Toledo and Josefina served as secretary and treasurer. Kind, thoughtful and always looking to be of service, Josefina enjoyed volunteering her time. She served on the board of the former Blue Program, Central City Ministries and more than 20 years with the American Red Cross, an organization that she was very proud of. Josefina was a devoted mother of eight children and the “Boss Lady”, always in command at the home.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Anna, Jesus (Lisa), Charles (Robin), and Eddie (Jennifer) Campos; seven siblings; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in May of 1997; sons, Anselmo, Frank, Jr., and Pedro Campos; and grandson,
Frank Campos III.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Road), where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 119 W. Bancroft Street, Toledo, Oh 43606, followed by her funeral at 11:00 a.m. Josefina will be laid to rest with her husband at Resurrection Cemetery.
