Jose Angel T. Riojas, 92, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Saturday, October 25, 2014 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on November 02, 1921 in Refugio, TX, the son of Juan and Carmen (Treviño) Riojas. He worked at the Silver Fleece Canning Co. in Port Clinton for 23 years and then he worked at the Silver Floss Canning Co. in Fremont for 9 years. On July 27, 1944 in Edcouch, TX, he married Maria L. Quiroga and she survives and together they raised 10 children Joe was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. He lived a faith-filled, Catholic life and will be remembered for all the good that he did in his lifetime. Joe was a strong, hard working man with a great sense of humor. He was a fun person to be with and we will miss his great wit, especially at family gatherings. Joe was mechanically skilled and loved to work on various projects. He also loved to work on his garden. Joe lived a long rewarding life and has gone on to his eternal rest. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Survivors include: Loving Wife of 70 years: Maria L. Riojas; Children: Carmen (Kenny) Kurtz, Josie Riojas, Gloria (Raul) Armendiz, Irene (Steve) Solis, Norma (Chuck) White, Joe (Rene) Riojas and Donna (Paul) Hopfinger; 17 Grandchildren; 33 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren and many loving Nieces and Nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, daughters: Janie Snell, Sylvia Barnett Patty Riojas; granddaughter: Andrea (Solis) Dalrymple; great-grandson: Nicholas Field, sister: Angelita Flores, brothers: Felipe Riojas, Manuel Riojas Juan Riojas II. Visitation will be 2-4 6-8PM, Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, Ohio, with prayers being recited at 9:30AM, Thursday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Father John Missler at 10:00AM, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial donations in memory of Joe may be given in care of the family.
