Jose A. Gallardo

Jose A. Gallardo, 72, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the Toledo Hospital, after a short illness. He was born in Riga, Michigan on September 14, 1949, to Jesse and Maria (Ramirez) Gallardo. On February 27, 1970, he married Dalia (Castillo), in Port Clinton.

Jose had worked for the Celotex Company in Port Clinton from 1970-2001 and for the Michigan Sugar Company in Fremont, Ohio, from 2001 until present day. He was a hardworking man that lived and worked to take care of his wife, children, and grandchildren, always willing to give the shirt off his back to help anyone who needed it. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, or “The Hogs” as he called them, enjoyed Mexican music, watching the Cleveland Browns, NHRA racing, and spending time with his grandkids, family, and friends when he was not working.

Jose was known to give nicknames for everyone he met, and it was the usually the first thing that popped into his head and from then on you were known by that name! A few examples include “Guapo,” “Bradshaw,” “Money Bags,” “Part-Time” and “Big Chuck” and “Little John.”

Jose is survived by his wife, Dalia, children, Sonia M. Gallardo, Joseph M. Gallardo, Philip (Jen) Gallardo and Angeline M. Gallardo, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, siblings, Helen Lopez, Marcelino Gallardo, Mary Lou (Joe) Flores-Briones, Phyllis (Homer) Shields, Alegandro (Sheila) Gallardo, Lusio (Cindy) Gallardo, Margaret Jeko, Anita Gallardo, Rosemary (Jerry) Narew, Olga (Jim) Williamson, and Bobbi Love-McCullough.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Jesse Gallardo, Jr., Roberto Gallardo, Sr., Virginia Bijarro, and Linda Gallardo.

Visitation for Jose will be held from 1-5 PM, Monday, June 20, 2022, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, Ohio, followed by a funeral service at 5 PM.
