Jon A. Knapp. 79, of Genoa, Ohio, and formerly of Cheektowaga, New York, died Monday evening at Hospice of Northwest, Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Jon was born in Buffalo, New York, on January 26, 1938, the son of Orliff and Emilee (Hall) Knapp. He married Diane L. McIntosh in Harris Hill, New York, on June 7, 1975, and she survives. Jon was a talented mechanical and electrical engineer, who spent his career working in the steel industry over 30 years. He worked for Heitman Steel Company in Toledo, Ohio, for six years until his retirement in 2003. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the American Legion Post #324 of Genoa, Ohio. Jon is survived by his loving wife of more than 41 years, Diane, children, James (Amber Gresh) Knapp, Rebecca Knapp, Terresa Henroit, Tammy Chevaz, grandson, Thomas Leuschner, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kristine L. Knapp, and sisters, Carol Andriaccio and Diane Schwendler. A Funeral Mass for Jon will be conducted at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2950 Southwestern Blvd., Orange Park, NY 14127. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2017, in the James W. Cannan Funeral Home, 3155 Orchard Park Rd., Orchard Park, NY. Interment will follow Mass, in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga, NY. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Center for Handicapped Children - CHC, 1085 Eggert Rd., Buffalo, NY 14226.
