Johnnie L. Kratz, 86, of Fremont, OH, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Winchester, OH on May 8, 1923 to William and Viola Duncan Kratz. On August 01, 1944, in Port Clinton, OH, he married Minerva F. Wilson and she survives. They were married for 65 years on August 01, 2009. Johnnie worked as a tool die maker for New Departure, Sandusky, OH for 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Johnnie was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in WWII from 1943 to 1946. He was an Erie Township Trustee for 2 years and an Erie Township Vol. Fireman for over 10 years. Johnnie loved to golf, fish, go camping, travel and working in his vegetable garden. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, family and friends. Survivors include: Wife: Minerva F. Minnie Kratz of Fremont, OH; Daughter: Janet Gary Pollock of Fremont, OH; Granddaughter: Stephanie Chad Hetrick of Fremont, OH; Grandson: Gary John Kira Pollock of Fremont, OH; Great-Grandsons: Ethan Hetrick and Hunter Pollock. Johnnie was preceded in death by his father: William, mother: Viola, son: Donald Donnie Kratz, brothers: James Kratz and Orville Kratz and sister: Maggie Atkins. Visitation will be from 10AM to 12PM on Saturday, January 02, 2010 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, OH. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00PM following visitation. Interment will be in LaCarpe Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Johnnie may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, Fremont, OH.
