John E. Welber

John Edward Welber, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 9, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Janet Welber.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Martha Ann Welber; his son, David John Welber; his daughters, Karen Patrice Blanchard and Elizabeth Ann Moore; his brother-in-law and best friend, David Roy Lloyd; and his cherished grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Blanchard, Wilmer "Jay" James Blanchard V, Harrison Daniel Moore, Millie Elizabeth Moore, Katherine Grace Moore, Annie Jane Welber, and Jack David Welber. He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Wilmer "Jim" James Blanchard IV and Daniel Victor Moore, and his daughter-in-law, Ashley Diane Welber.

John retired from the City of Toledo in 2012 after 28.5 years of dedicated service. He was also an entrepreneur, owning and operating his own car wash on Central Ave for 10 years.

A proud graduate of Ottawa Hills High School, class of 1965, John went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Toledo.

John had a passion for life and a love for his family. He enjoyed gardening, boating, and fast cars. He was an avid supporter of THE Ohio State Buckeyes and found joy in singing with the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe, MI.

Visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623 on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.

Memorial contributions in memory of John may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Heartland Hospice of Monroe and Cherry Street Mission.

John's legacy of love, dedication, and enthusiasm for life will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
