John C. Walter, age 88, of Toledo, passed away on December 21, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. John was born on May 14, 1929 to John and Lula (Myrice) Walter, Sr. in Erie, Michigan. He married the love of his life, Carol A. (Defalco) Walter on June 19, 1954 and proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-52. John was a Dock Worker at Interstate Trucking for over 28 years retiring in 1991. He was a proud retiree of Teamsters Local 20. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, James C. Walter, John C. (Nancy) Walter, and Jeffrey C. Walter; grandchildren, Nikki (Justin) Fisher, Erica (Doug) Brunt and Kellie Cuttaia; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jacob, Jaden, Shelby and Lainey; sister, Juanita Kwiatkowski; adopted sons, Randy Harris, Paul Hardecki and Bill Donnelly; dog, Billy; and special thanks and gratitude to Darlene Mason, his caregiver and friend. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol A. Walter; and parents, John and Lula Walter. Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121). Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.
