John W. Schultz

John W. Schultz, age 71, of Springfield Township, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Swanton Valley Genesis in Swanton, Ohio. He was born December 12, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio to Edward and Helen Schultz John went to St. Charles Grade School, Libby High School and graduated from Bowsher High School in 1965. He was honorably discharged from the army in 1967. He worked at Schemenauer Manufacturing until 1972. He then worked at Genteck Toledo Technologies retiring in 2007 as an electrician. John joined the Springfield Township Volunteer Fire Department in September 1973 and retired from there as District Fire Chief of Springfield Township No. 1 in December, 2012. John played softball in the fire department league until his early fiftys. After softball, he bowled in a mens league and during golf season, he golfed one to three times weekly. John enjoyed camping at Shady Shores Campground at Nettle Lake making many friends along with his special furry kids, Toby and Teddie. He also was a member of Adams Township Post 553 American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Christine; sons, William (Jana) Schultz, Christopher Schultz; grandchildren Dana, Aidan and Anna Schultz; Brothers, Edward (Margie) Schultz, Jr., Larry Schultz and sister Sharon (Cass) Bader; one aunt; cousins; nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Helen Schultz, Sr. and both sets of grandparents. Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 3:00 to 9:00 with a firefighters service at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:30 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Springfield Township Cemetery.
