John Franklin Vallance

September 26, 1938 — May 1, 2024

John F. Vallance, aged 85, passed away on May 1, 2024, at Halifax Hospice Care Center in Edgewater, Florida. He was born on September 26, 1938, in Gibsonburg to Lennis & Frances (Strassel) Vallance. John graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1957 and later attended The Ohio State University on a full football scholarship, where he was coached by Woody Hayes and Bo Schembechler. Following his time at university, John served in the army starting in 1961, working on guided missile repair in Texas and earning Sharpshooter commendations. He concluded his military service in 1967 in the US Army Reserve. After his military career, John spent 30 years working at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, Ohio. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and duck carving.


John is survived by his son John A. (Mary) Vallance from Port Clinton, Ohio; daughters, Kathy (Rich) Rounds of Deltona, Florida, and Deborah (Andrew) Harris of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He is also survived by his sister Vella Sue (Larry) Hofacker of Brandon, FL, and grandchildren: John R. Vallance, Megan F. Vallance, Aryn F. Vallance, and Pond Harris. John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sally L. Vallance, son Aaron T. Vallance, brother Dennis E. Vallance, and sisters Jean L. Vallance of Port Clinton, OH, Nancy G. Wonderly of Port Clinton, OH, Willah J. Christner of Waynesboro, PA, and Carol A. Baw of Jacksonville, FL.
