John Arthur Toepfer

John Arthur Toepfer, age 80, of Waterville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born on August 15, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio to Arthur and Ruth Braunschwieger Toepfer. John was a 1951 graduate of Libbey High School where he played in the high school band and was a Boy Scout Leader. He also played the drums in the US Navy Band and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a very active person in his personal, spiritual and business life. John was the owner of Four Wheel Drive Diversified, Inc. in Maumee, Ohio and operated the business for over 30 years with his wife. He also was a member of the UT Center For Family Business. John was the definition of an auto-enthusiast. He was a Regional Director of the Sports Car Club of America and a member of American Powerboat where he raced in class B. He enjoyed car shows; car and truck races, and was the first to bring Mud Bog racing to Ohio. John had a servants heart and a passion to serve others. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maumee, Ohio, where he served on several boards. He enjoyed the Mens Group, the Prayer Group, and served communion to the members that were not able to attend regular services. John was part of the Ministry at NODC for 30 years and worked to feed the homeless on a monthly basis. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Rajner; daughters, Denise Toepfer and Deborah Brandon Toepfer-Simenski; daughter-in-law, Gerry Toepfer; and grandchildren, Natalie and AJ. Also surviving, brother, William Millie Toepfer. John was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Daniel. Friends and family will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 112 E. Wayne Street, Maumee, Ohio. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Music Ministry or Gods Store House. Online messages and condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com
