In Loving Memory

Jack has now reunited with his cherished wife of 62 years, Cynthia, embarking together on the next chapter of their everlasting journey.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved John “Jack” Holt, who departed this life on November 6, 2025, at home in Toledo, Ohio, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Jack was 89 years old.

A Life of Love and Dedication

Born on June 30, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, Jack Holt was a treasured son, sibling, spouse, parent, and friend. Throughout his life, Jack exemplified kindness, integrity, and generosity, touching countless lives with his warmth and compassion.

Jack attended Central Catholic High School and later became a respected business leader, continuing the legacy of Holt Roofing Company, which was founded in 1947 by his father, Floyd Holt. Holt Roofing Company, Inc. is a fourth-generation, family-owned business built on the principles of honesty, fairness, and quality. Floyd managed the family business until his passing in 1969, at which point Jack took over the company.

Jack’s philosophy for running a successful business was based on the Golden Rule: treat your customers how you would want to be treated. He believed in taking care of customers, and employees, treating them right, and offering honest, fair service. “If there’s a problem, we take care of it right away.”

Family and Legacy

Jack is survived by his sisters, Sharon (Louis) and Kathleen (Michael) his children, Lee Ann (Danny), Mark (Lisa), Beth (Stephanie), and Keith (Cheryl); and his grandchildren: Tyler (Stephanie), JT, Tonya (Brian), Linzey (Eric) , Shelby, Victoria (Vince), Calla, Alek (Melissa), and Cameron. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren along with his sisters-in-law Janice and Elaine. His beloved wife Cynthia and son Douglas predeceased him. The relationships and experiences shared throughout Jack's life continue to provide inspiration and guidance to those who knew him. Jack valued time spent with family and friends, commemorating both significant events and everyday moments.

Jack will be remembered for his love of flying and his remarkable achievement of being one of the oldest licensed drone pilots. He served as past president of the West Toledo Exchange Club , Blue Horizon Flying Club and was very proud when Holt Roofing was selected by the Toledo Blade and City Paper as Toledo’s top roofing company, as well as numerous Better Business Bureau awards. His legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
