Dr. John F. Steinman, DDS of Maumee Oh, passed away peacefully after a long illness at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on October 20, 2012. Jack was born January 10, 1931 in Toledo Ohio. Jack attended Ohio State University was a member of Psi Omega fraternity and graduated in June 1957. After an internship in Florida he established a dental practice in Maumee where he treated his many devoted patients for over 50 years. He was assisted in his practice by family members and Vonnie Mears. He loved his patients and they adored him as a moral and honest gentleman who never refused treatment to those with financial difficulties. One elderly patient who was unable to pay delivered homemade pies in gratitude for his service. Even through his long illness, he continued to see patients on occasion, and hoped to return to his office to see more of his patients. Jacks commitment to dentistry led him to invent, patent, and manufacture a tooth polisher that won the Inventors Trade Association Medal of Achievement. Jacks motto was If you do something right, you will never be wrong. Jack was married to his loving and devoted wife, Lena Lee Mastropere Steinman for 59 years. Jack raised his children on Kumler Drive in a house that he designed, drew the blueprints, and helped build. Jack was preceded in death by his daughter Sheri Ann Steinman. He is survived by his wife Lee; daughter, Sandra Lee Drury Tallant; sister in-law, Dorothy John Brazeau Riser and by his nieces and nephews. In recent years he attended the Monclova Road Baptist Church. The family expresses its thanks and gratitude to Pastor Russ Merrin, his wife Norma, and other members of the church for the wonderful support they gave Jack. We are also grateful to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care and attention Family and friends will be received on Tuesday October 23, 2012 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Monclova Road Baptist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
