John Joseph Shultz, age 81, of Toledo, OH passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Toledo on May 9, 1932 to Carl and Florence Hickey Shultz. John was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He owned and operated the former Toledo Lumber and Millwork Company. He was the oldest living charter member of the Toledo Home Remodelers and was also a member of HBA, Regina Coeli Catholic Church and a former member of St. Clement Catholic Church. John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his Great Danes. He loved gardening and was an avid fan of the Toledo Mud Hens and Mickey Mouse. John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Shultz; children, Susan Gilmore, Thomas Diana Shultz, David Vanessa Shultz; former son in-law, Kevin Gilmore; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Robert Gilmore, John, Owen, Colin and Brendan Shultz; step-grandchildren, Amy White, Josh Dragun and Blade Carswell. Also surviving are nephews and nieces, Robert Van Rynen, John Van Rynen, Robert Shultz, Sandy Shultz, Jeanne Gibson, Daniel Wood, Jeffry Wood and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his identical twin brother, Tom Shultz; brother, Bob Shultz and niece, Linda Shultz. Friends and family will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. West of Corey Road on Thursday August 29, 2013 from 2-9 pm with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm . A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 530 Regina Parkway, Toledo. The family requests memorial contributions in Johns memory be made to the Toledo Humane Society.
