John Howard Sherry

December 20, 1944 — November 6, 2022

John H. Sherry, 77, of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born on December 20, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio, a son of the late Lester and Elizabeth (Shemansky) Sherry. He married Faye Ahrens and she survives.

John worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 35 years, where he retired out of the Charlotte, North Carolina Roadway Shop.

John loved taking road trips. He especially loved grabbing the grandkids and taking them on random adventures. One particular adventure is when grandpa wanted to take his grandson Camreon to Canada and they ended up being detained and questioned for a full day in customs. John loved watching the trains no matter where he went. He would drag his wife with him for many trips too. If there was a new restaurant or a good one, you better believe he was there. He enjoyed watching them fish also.

Survivors include his wife Faye of 58 years; his 3 children, Jennie (Dan) Donich, of Marblehead, Cyrus (Kim) Sherry, of Port Clinton, Matt (Kathryn) Sherry, of Salisbury, North Carolina; grandchildren, Danielle Donich, Porsche Donich, Camreon Sherry, Parker Sherry, Ali Sherry, Matthew Hildebrandt, Nick Hildebrandt (Ashley), and Elayna Livingston (Jason); great-grandchildren, Oakleigh Sherry, Bryson, Emery and Cole Hildebrandt, Lakelyn Allman, Paxton Livingston, Landen Hildebrandt, McKinley Williams, Novalee Lepree, Maddox Nance; and sister, Kathleen Savage, of Sandusky. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Sunday Lee Sherry.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be scheduled at a later time.
