PORT CLINTON: John M. Rohde, 72, of Port Clinton passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 14, 1938 in Fremont, the son of John H. and Anne ONeal Rohde. John was veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a flight navigator during 1956 to 1959. On June 30, 1962, he married Darleen Hendrix in Port Clinton at Immaculate Conception Church. John worked in auto parts sales until his disability retirement in 1995. He was a brick layer and carpenter and served on the Port Clinton Police Department in the 60s. John was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Elks Lodge #1718 in Port Clinton. Surviving in addition to his wife Darleen of 49 years include: son, David J. Michelle Rohde of Westerville, OH; daughter, Carol Dennis Dziengelewski of Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Michael Rohde, Lauren Rohde, Paige Dziengelewski and Zachary Dziengelewski, and sister, Kathleen Cornell. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Rohde. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John C. Missler at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 01 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions may be given in memory of John to Stein Hospice, or the donors choice.
