John John Jack Ries, Sr.

John Jack Harvey Ries, age 80, passed away February 14, 2014 in his home. Jack was born to Robert Wallace and Florence Alice Gross Ries on January 13, 1934. He was a 1951 graduate of Macomber High School. He retired from the Catawba Island Fire Department in 1980, and also retired from E.S. Wagner in 2000 where he had been employed since 1951. Jack was a member of the Elks Lodge in Port Clinton, Ohio since 1967. He enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, country music and loved hockey. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and Longtime companion, Helen Hamblin. He is survived by his children, Lee A. Ries, Laurie L. Michael Leggio of Temperance, Jack Sherri Ries, Jr. of Oak Harbor, and Robert M. Donna Ries of Alabama; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 2-9 PM at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Amboy Twp. Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Dept. 4730 East Cemetery Rd Port Clinton, OH 43452.
