On November 17, 2022 John Marlin Reichard, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. John was born on October 15, 1938 to Otto and Betty Reichard in Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from Scott High School in 1958. He started working as a meat cutter while attending high school and retired from Kroger. He served in the Ohio National Guard from 1961 to 1965.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Susan V. Lewis, whom he married on June 15, 1962. They have three children, Stephen Reichard and his wife Jenni, Aaron Reichard and his wife Jessica, and Rachel Tipping and her husband Dan. They have eight grandchildren: Olivia Walton and her husband Joshua, Anna Reichard, Ava Draper and her husband Nathan, Christian Reichard, August Reichard, Henry Tipping, Derek Miller and Alex Miller. In addition, John and Susan opened their home to fifteen foster children and two foster grandmothers.
Anyone who knew John knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He always put his family and others first before his own needs. He showed kindness to those in need and was a positive example to his children by his actions rather than words. He had a unique sense of humor and was known to be a practical joker.
John will be missed by all who benefited from his life well lived. The actions he chose throughout his life will cascade through the future generations with resounding love.
Visitation and services will be held Tuesday, November 22nd at Bethel Assembly of God, 655 W. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg, Ohio. Visitation will begin at 9:30am with services at 11am in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in John’s name may be made to Bethel Assembly of God in Perrysburg, The Wounded Warrior Project, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
