John Edward Pinkelman, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away on May 28, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born on September 29, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Germanus and Florence (Eckel) Pinkelman.
Following his graduation from high school, John proudly served in the Ohio Army National Guard and began his dedicated career of over 38.5 years at General Motors, retiring in 2006. His strong work ethic was matched only by his unwavering dedication to his family and the routines that defined his daily life.
John was a man of simple joys, finding happiness in bowling, golfing, fishing, grilling, and taking great pride in keeping his yard well-maintained. He particularly enjoyed playing cards with his family, especially his grandchildren, either at his kitchen table or during visits to them in Alaska and California. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, where he could be found visiting local sites, including the Elks Lodge. John was also a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption, Ohio, where his faith guided him throughout his life.
John was unapologetically himself and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, humor, stubbornness, and devotion to his family will remain in the hearts of those he loved forever.
John was preceded in death by his former wife, Deana DeLong, his sister, Sister LaDonna Pinkelman, and brother-in-law, Ronald Lumbrezer. He is survived by his children, Chad (Amy) Pinkelman and Jennifer McNutt; grandchildren, Paige (Kevin Vargas) McNutt, Chase McNutt, Deana McNutt, and Connor Pinkelman; and his great-grandson, Eli Vargas (expected June 22, 2025); siblings, Duane (Jane) Pinkelman, Karen (Jerry) Noe and Nancy Lumbrezer.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, tradition, and cherished memories.
