John E. Pawlaczyk

April 27, 1940 — September 24, 2025

John E. Pawlaczyk, age 85, of Holland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, at Ebeid Hospice Center surrounded by the love of his family. Born on April 27, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, John lived a life rooted in faith, family, and the land he cherished.

A proud graduate of Swanton High School, John was a standout football player, earning a spot on The Blade All Star Team in 1957. But his greatest victory came off the field winning the heart of his high school sweetheart, Luette. Their 60 year marriage was a testament to enduring love and Christian values, and together they built a home filled with laughter and the joy of raising five children.

John’s Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his life. A devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, he lived his beliefs through service and kindness. He found strength and purpose in daily prayer and cherished attending Mass. After Luette’s passing, John visited Calvary Cemetery every day, a quiet act of devotion that spoke volumes about his love and loyalty.

He proudly served in the Ohio National Guard as a Military Police Officer in the 1960s, demonstrating his commitment to community and country. But his true calling was farming. For over 60 years, John worked at Bettinger Farms, managing farmhands and nurturing life in the greenhouse. On his own small farm, he grew soybeans and passed down his love of the land to his sons and grandsons. Farming wasn’t just a job—it was a way of life, a legacy he cultivated with care and pride.

John was a man who never met a stranger. Whether sharing coffee and conversation at Tim Hortons or swapping stories on long drives with his grandchildren, he had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued. His humor, warmth, and unwavering generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He is survived by his children, John (Patty) Pawlaczyk, Lisa (Terry) Miller, Greg (Darla) Pawlaczyk, and Leslie (John) King; and 11 grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Luette; his daughter, Cheryl (survived by her husband; Jason Beebe); his brother, Aloysius; sister, Margaret; and parents, Helen and Ollie.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all who shared in John’s life; friends, neighbors, caregivers, and loved ones whose kindness, support, and presence meant so much throughout the years.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, September 30, 2025, 3-8 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, with recitation of the rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 11 am at Little Flower Catholic Church, preceded by visitation from 10-11 am.
