John Parrish, 91, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. John was born May 20, 1930 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Theodore and Nora (Sigmon) Parrish. He graduated from Perrysburg High School where is he was a cheerleader. John proudly served our country in the United States Army where he was drafted right after high school and sent to Okinawa and was a Korean War Veteran. He married Jean Marcum on June 4, 1955 and they shared 66 years together.
John worked for Libbey Owens for 30 years. He was a 50-year member of The American Legion Post #28, where he was the Commander for many years; The Perrysburg VFW and the Odd Fellows. He was an avid Perrysburg sports fan; even having a lifetime sports pass for every event. You could find him every Friday night during football season running the chains during the football games. John was in charge of The Memorial Day Parade in Perrysburg for many years. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality; he never met a stranger and could carry on a conversation with anyone. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Salli (Steve) Kolb, Terri Parrish-Black, Lorri (Scott) Robinson and Tod Parrish; grandchildren, Trevor (Ashley) Robinson, David (Bianca) Ward, Amber and Lucas Parrish; great-grandchildren, Layla and Anastasia. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Betty Lou Daniels, Don Parrish and Bob Parrish.
Per John’s wishes, his body was donated to science. A celebration of John’s life will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 6:30-10:00 p.m. at Schaller Memorial Hall (Perrysburg Amercian Legion). Condolences may be made online to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com .
