John G. Pantanella, age 79, of Sylvania, died June 17, 2021, at Ebeid Hospice. He was born November 2, 1941, in Toledo to the late Don and Mary Jane Pantanella and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1959. John served in the US Air Force from 1960-1964. He married the love of his life, Gail, on February 22, 1990. Highly intelligent and equipped with an entrepreneurial spirit, John was the treasurer at National Shoe Service, Inc. and operated his own jewelry stores. He sold both insurance and real estate, was a contractor, held a private pilot’s license and owned his own airplane. John was very handy, could fix anything and was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed playing golf and poker as well as cooking at the holidays. He found his greatest joy in time spent with family and his pets, especially beloved dog, Lucy. John will also be lovingly remembered for his great sense of humor and for his devotion as a husband. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gail; children, Leonette, Theresa, Jeanette, Lisa Garry-Wilson, Lori (Greg) Mariucci, and Leslie (Jeff) Wood; eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by son, Joseph Garry; grandson, Gregory Wilson; and sister, Donna Robinson. Family and friends are invited to visit from 4-8 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2021, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Interment will be private. Contributions in John’s memory are suggested to Ebeid Hospice.
