John M. O'Leary, 82, a longtime resident of Point Place, passed away March 6, 2025, under the compassionate care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born December 31, 1942, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to the late Joseph and Ailie (Akkala) O'Leary.
A graduate of Waite High School, John earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Toledo. He was a teacher within the Washington Local School District for over 30 years, teaching at both Hiawatha Elementary and Washington Junior High. John also sold real estate for over 40 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Point Place, where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards, particularly Poker, but his family was his true pride and joy. John was a diehard fan of all the grandchildren's many sports, drama, educational, religious, and music activities. He was the fun grandpa, lighthearted and always up to some level of mischief. John led a full and blessed life. He was sociable, friendly, a verbose storyteller, and a friend to many.
