John Ocock

John Frank Graf Ocock, age 65, of Sylvania, passed on at his home Saturday, August 31, 2013 from effects of a 17-year battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and prostate cancer. Born December 31, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Vance and Harriet Ocock, he grew up in Harvard, Illinois. John retired in 2010 after a 36-year career with Chrysler Corporation, including Jeep and predecessors American Motors, Renault and Daimler-Chrysler. He worked in Accounting, Import Operations and projects in France, China, Brazil, Germany and Argentina. He earned his Bachelor of Industrial Management degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1974 while raising a young family, and then earned his MBA from the University of Toledo in 1994. John was a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Wisconsin and Ohio, an avid model railroad enthusiast, a licensed member of Toledo Mobile Radio Association and enjoyed boating, riding motorcycles, traveling and especially loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother Rolland. He is survived by his best friend and wife of nearly 45 years, Cathy Petzold Ocock, his three sons, J. Bradley, Trevor Amy and Ryan Jennifer, and brothers George and Robert. John was the epitome of strength and determination which allowed him an additional 17 years of life, enabling him to enjoy his adored grandchildren Andrew, Delaney, Lucas and Lidia, who will miss him very much. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 5 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm with a memorial celebration to follow at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests tributes be in the form of donations to the National Foundation for Cancer Research NFCR.
