John Stephen Luda III, 57, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away at St. Charles Hospital on December 10, 2024.
Born at Mercy Hospital in Toledo on April 16, 1967, to John S. Luda Jr. and Marlene Cassabon, John was the eldest of six brothers and the oldest cousin in his family, a role that earned him the affectionate title of “leader of the pack.” He graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School, where he was active in football, cross country, and wrestling.
A man who valued both family and friendships deeply, John spent much of his time outdoors—whether boating on sunny days, fishing, or working on vehicles. He had a love for life, which extended to his passion for cooking; many will remember him for his delicious dishes shared with friends and loved ones. John and his wife, Elva, were proud members of the VFW, where they enjoyed socializing and building lasting friendships.
John was known for his sense of humor, generosity, and hard-working nature. Above all, he will be remembered for his deep love and devotion to his family, as well as his ability to brighten any room with his presence and leave everyone with a smile.
John is survived by his wife, Elva Luda; daughters, Taylor Luda (Kyle Miller) and Marissa Luda (Seth Roe); father, John Luda Jr. (Ellen Luda); brothers, Patrick Luda (Cecilia Luda), Greg Luda, Brad Luda, Jim Luda (Ashley Luda), and Christopher Luda (Lisa Luda); granddaughter, Bennett Ann Miller; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene Cassabon; stepfather, Nathan Cassabon; and mother-in-law, Mary Buenrostro.
Visitation will take place at Walker Funeral Homes, 3500 Navarre Ave., Oregon, OH, on Thursday, December 12 from 12 PM to 7 PM, and Friday, December 13 from 11 AM to 12 PM, followed by a prayer service.
